Christian Kern impressed by IST Austria’s development as a role model in science

Yesterday in the morning Christian Kern, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Austria, paid a visit to the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria) in Klosterneuburg, Lower Austria. IST Austria President Thomas Henzinger and Managing Director Georg Schneider welcomed him for a presentation and discussion at the voestalpine Administration Building. Kern then went on an extensive campus tour, including meetings with professors, PhD students and postdocs at IST Austria. At the Bertalanffy Foundation Building he talked to neuroscientist Peter Jonas, computer scientist Bernd Bickel, and biologists Carl-Philipp Heisenberg, Daria Siekhaus and Nick Barton. There he also met with young scientists such as Aglaja Kopf, Karola Käfer, Ruslan Guseinov, Srdjan Sarikas, and Alvaro Ingles Prieto. “I am really impressed by IST Austria’s development as a role model in science” stated Chancellor Kern before departing from IST Austria.
