IST Austria organizes Open Campus on June 5 | science festival offers program for entire family

Open Campus IST Austria 2016

The Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria) will organize its science festival for the entire family on June 5, 2016. This year’s Open Campus will offer a varied program, ranging from science exhibition to campus tours, family lecture and bridge construction contest. Highlight of the children’s program will be a visit to the scientific discovery world for kids.

Next Sunday at 12:00 pm, the campus in Klosterneuburg will turn into a meeting place for science and research. IST Austria scientists will present new and interesting findings from the world of basic research in an interactive exhibition. At ten stations visitors will have the chance to explore current research projects in the life and formal sciences.
The Open Campus will be opened at 1:00pm in the Raiffeisen Lecture Hall. The official opening in the presence of Johann Mikl-Leitner, the Deputy Governor and Finance Counsellor from Lower Austria, will be followed by the award ceremony for this year’s school competition and the family lecture by evolutionary biologist Matthias Fuerst. The bridge construction competition will be next at 4:00 pm. The labs and high tech workshops of IST Austria can be toured in the entire afternoon.

The children’s program will give young scientists the opportunity to visit a scientific discovery world. Local partners will organize and staff the stations for the kids. Food and drinks will be provided by suppliers from Klosterneuburg, the children of a local music school and the machbar DJs will keep the visitors entertained.

The museum gugging will celebrate its 10-year anniversary the same day. The festivities will start at 5:00 pm with an art brut party and a new exhibition on Johann Hauser.
