Following the opening of Lab Building East this afternoon on the campus of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria), Federal Minister for Science and Research Karlheinz Töchterle took part in the beginning of the meeting of IST Austria’s Board of Trustees.

Töchterle thanked the members of the Board of Trustees for their work: “IST Austria is an enrichment for Austria’s science environment, as the Institute combines interdisciplinary basic research with the education of young scientists at the highest level. IST Austria thereby sets standards – not only on the national level, but also globally. The scientists make crucial contributions to society and thereby add to generating the basis for the future progress of Austria and Europe.”

The Chair of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Claus J. Raidl, thanked the Minister for his support.

Alice Dautry, Member of the Board of Trustees and President of the Institut Pasteur in Paris: “It is – even, and especially, in an international context – extraordinarily remarkable that the Austrian Federal Government and Lower Austria have agreed on a long-term path for the further development of IST Austria until 2026, supporting basic research. Austria thereby sets an example, which many other European countries should follow.”
