Two further professors open up new field of research
Laszlo Erdös and Robert Seiringer establish Mathematical Physics at IST Austria • New area of research added to faculty of now 26 professors • President Henzinger: „Important step in increasing the scientific breadth of IST Austria“
Today, President Thomas Henzinger announced the appointment of two further faculty members of the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) Austria. Laszlo Erdös and Robert Seiringer join the Institute as the first mathematical physicists, adding a further research field to IST Austria. Both will start their work on the IST Austria campus in spring 2013.
President Henzinger expressed his pleasure: “I am very glad that these two exceptional scientists have decided to join IST Austria. As recommended by the evaluation committee we are adding further research fields to the institute. So far we have focused on areas in the life sciences and computer science with some extensions to related fields. The research of Erdös and Seiringer will start a new direction within IST Austria. With their decision to join us Erdös and Seiringer will establish IST Austria as one of the worldwide leading centers in mathematical physics. This will enhance the overall scientific impact of IST Austria significantly.”
