Success in academia is not equally accessible to all. Especially, for individuals with disabilities, certain skin colors, or socio-economic backgrounds, pursuing a science career can be particularly challenging.

We invite you to join us for an enlightening event that brings together distinguished scientists, Rachael Dangarembizi, Senior Lecturer and Neuroscientist, Neuroscience Institute, University of Cape Town, South Africa, Onur Güntürkün, Professor for Biopsychology, University Bochum, Germany, and Andrew Krause, Associate Professor in Applied Mathematics, Durham University, UK. All of them have navigated (and are still navigating) these unique challenges. Through the sharing of personal stories, we will gain insight into how these experiences have shaped their careers and influenced their interactions within academia.

This event aims to foster a deeper understanding of the systemic barriers that continue to exist for many, while celebrating the resilience and achievements of these individuals. By creating a space for open dialogue, we hope to challenge traditional narratives of scientific careers and inspire greater empathy, inclusivity, and action within our academic community.

We look forward to your participation in this important conversation!
