Our Group
The Environmental Biophysics and Ecohydrology group focus on research at the interfaces of biogeosciences, hydrology and soil science. Their primary objective is to understand how global environmental change impact vegetation functioning, water and soil resources, the carbon cycle, and overall ecosystem services within both natural and urban environments. To achieve this, the group employs diverse methodologies, ranging from mechanistic and stochastic models, data analysis and assimilation, as well as field observations.
Your Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for completing the scientific tasks within the research domain of the group, lead and contribute to publications, and is expected to work together with other postdoctoral fellows in the group. Besides contributing to the research activities of a specific project, the successful applicant is expected to support in a broader sense the research of the Environmental Biophysics and Ecohydrology group.
Your Profile
- PhD in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Physics or related disciplines which include specific and broad knowledge in the areas of ecohydrology, hydrology, biogeosciences, snow hydrology, and land surface processes.
- Strong data analytics skills and knowledge of process-based numerical modelling tools are required.
- Very solid modelling skills, including programming skills (e.g., Matlab, Julia, Python) are required.
- Experience in using land surface models and/or terrestrial biosphere models is strongly desired and experience with large-scale computing would be preferable.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstration of innovative scientific results obtained during the PhD and communication skills are important elements of evaluation.
- Previous experience in an international context is preferred and candidates with an interdisciplinary background are encouraged.
- Excellent command of English (working language).
