Postdoc Research Group Ibáñez
- Klosterneuburg (Vienna), Austria
- Application Deadline: flexible start date
- € 73,500* gross/year
A postdoctoral position is available in the research group of Professor Maria Ibáñez at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA).
Electronic transport and functional properties of 3D nanocrystal assemblies. The project aims to understand how nanocrystal composition, crystal structure, ordering, interfaces, defects, and interparticle coupling determine the functional properties of these materials.
The researcher will take a leading role in developing the experimental methodology and know-how required to measure transport in individual 3D supercrystals and related nanocrystal solids.
Your Profile
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Strong experimental background in electrical transport measurements of semiconductors, microcrystals, nanostructured materials, or related systems.
- Experience developing transport measurements on small or individual structures, including the design of suitable contact geometries.
- Experience with micro- or nanofabrication of electrical contacts, including FIB-based contacting, lithography, or related approaches, is highly desirable.
- Experience with temperature-dependent conductivity, two- and four-probe measurements, and analysis of contact resistance.
- Experience with Hall, magnetotransport, or Seebeck measurements is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of charge-transport mechanisms and the ability to distinguish intrinsic material behavior from contact, geometry, or fabrication-related effects.
- Ability to develop and adapt experimental setups and measurement protocols for unconventional sample geometries.
- Experience with nanocrystal solids, quantum-dot solids, superlattices, mesocrystals, or other hierarchical semiconductor systems is an advantage.
- Highly motivated, independent, and interested in establishing new experimental capabilities and scientific directions.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
