Faculty positions
Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) offers tenure-track Assistant Professor and tenured Professor positions. We offer state-of-the-art facilities, scientific support services, as well as competitive start-up packages and salaries.
Staff Scientists
Staff scientists pursue research projects together with professors, serving as collaborators with specific expertise not present within research groups. New positions will be opened on demand of specific expertise.
Postdocs
Scientists interested in conducting postdoctoral research at ISTA can apply year-round by contacting professors directly, or by applying for a fellowship if available.
PhD students
ISTA is looking for highly motivated, exceptional students who are passionate about scientific research and are driven to succeed. Students who will have completed a bachelor’s degree by September are invited to apply. The deadline for applications is at the beginning of January.
Internships for BSc and MSc Students
The ISTernship program has been paused for the 2026 application cycle, and the program will not be taking place in 2026.
Information about the 2027 application cycle will be made available late in 2026.
